Skye
Female High-Content Wolfdog
Skye
Skye joined the Big Pack in the Sky on April 11th, 2016.
She passed at 16 years old due to old age.

Skye was born in April of 2000, and arrived at Wild Spirit in May of that very same year. She was rescued from a home in Oregon, after a kind-hearted lady noticed she was living in squalor. Concerned about Skye’s neglect, the woman notified the authorities and requested to find her a new home. Upon agreeing, she picked up Skye and began to search for a place to bring her.

Skye was so young that she was just past the stage of opening her eyes, beginning to explore and socialize. In the brief time the woman spent with Skye, she offered her as much care and socialization as she could, but raising a puppy is a lot of work. Eager to find Skye a more suitable home, she contacted Wild Spirit for placement.

Luckily, we had the resources and space to take little Skye in, as well as the perfect companion to help raise her: a gentle male named Nayati. To help us save money, the woman was even kind enough to drive Skye to Wild Spirit herself!

Personality

Skye was extremely rambunctious, energetic, playful, and mischievous. She was well known for stealing bandanas, hats, radios, and anything else hanging loose on a Caretaker. There was never a time in her life that she did not act like a puppy, bounding around and causing havoc. Only pets were enough to keep her in one place for long, that is, until she spotted something to steal.

Relationships

Skye lived with a mellow wolfdog named Nayati when she was younger. He was an excellent role model for her, but tragically passed. At which point, we paired her with some pups of equal energy, Brutus and Sassy! Sassy soon went off to be paired with another male, but Skye and Brutus remained perfect companions until she passed.

Likes & Dislikes

Skye liked playing tag, going for walks, and fence-fighting with neighbors.

Skye disliked her companion going for a walk without her, and neighbors getting attention.

Fun Facts

Skye’s propensity for theft did not stop at items like hats and radios . . . but sometimes also extended to the Caretakers themselves! Yes, this mischievous gal had a tendency to grab Caretakers by the belt and drag to the back of the enclosure. It was her way of “claiming” her favorites, and a few times we even had to trade food to get them back!
