ON-GOING CAMPAIGNS

Indigo Mountain Nature Center

Indigo Mountain Nature Center is a non-profit sanctuary located in Lake George, Colorado, whose Founder and Executive Director, Sue Cranston, tragically passed away a few months ago. This leaves the sanctuary with a very uncertain future, for both the organization, as well as the 25 rescues who currently call it home.

In coordination with the current land owner, Indigo’s Board of Directors and a number of incredible people from our sanctuary network, Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary’s goal is to absorb Indigo Mountain into our organization to protect the current rescues who call it home and gain a secondary location for rescue and education.

Memorial Headstone Campaign

While we love our Big Pack in the Sky page, what Wild Spirit has always been missing is a place for people to pay their respects to our past rescues in person. We are excited to announce our current goal to create a memorial garden right here on our property that is open to the public, and would also have a headstone for every rescue that has passed away!

Naturally, this is an expensive endeavor, but one that is well worth it. Please consider donating a headstone for some of our rescues to continue their legacy in our memorial garden.

Embark Campaign

With the rise in accuracy in DNA tests, at long last there is a reliable option to differentiate between wolf and dog genetics: Embark. This is the only test on the market that is trusted among wolfdog specialists, and is an invaluable tool in determining not only content-level, but also a rescue’s lineage and genetics that impact their health. Because of the clear benefits, our objective is to Embark every rescue at the sanctuary!

Cave House Construction

Building structures for our enclosures is a never-ending process. We always strive to provide our rescues with comfortable homes that are ideal for rain or shine, but naturally the elements have a way of chipping away at our efforts. Our goal is to create cave house structures that are built to LAST! The only hang-up is that each one can cost over $1,500 for materials alone, which does not even factor in labor costs. With your help, we could give every rescue a 5-star hotel!

No Littering Campaign

Our “No Littering Campaign” is dedicated towards collecting the funds to spay and neuter all of our rescues (excluding those with viable reasons not to). Wild Spirit receives 300-500 intake requests a year, and a number of those are due to accidental litters. We spay and neuter every rescue we can that arrives at our sanctuary, which can be difficult and costly, especially when the majority of critters we rescue are intact. Such was the case for our Kansas rescues, which were the primary reason for this campaign.

Kiska Emergency Vet Care Campaign

In July of 2024, Kiska was exhibiting symptoms of discomfort, such as standing in one place, staring blankly ahead, swaying on her feet, with a delayed response to her Caretakers. Shortly thereafter, she unsuccessfully attempted to defecate before going to lay in her cave house for hours without retreating.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to raise $10,126.85! This allowed us to do hours of diagnostic testing (physical evaluation, bloodwork, urinalysis, abdominal ultrasound, and x-rays), we had zero answers. She wasn’t experiencing an obstruction, she did not have any internal abnormalities, and there wasn’t even stool in her GI tract. Her white blood cell count was slightly high, but not alarmingly so. The vet’s best guess was that she was in early stages of cancer, but no testing could confirm this. However, the funding allowed us to provide her with careshe desperately needed.

Rescue our Rescues 2023

2023 was a big year for Wild Spirit, as well as the wolfdog community as a whole! Never in our organization’s history have we embarked on not one, not two, but THREE largescale rescues in a single year! This unprecedented achievement saved 19 lives from 3 different states, which required the support of the rescue network, and anyone willing to help (in person, spiritally, or through donations).

To fund these rescues and the care for these critters, we created our Rescue our Rescues 2023 campaign. It remarkable made $48,733.79 due to the kindness and generosity of so many incredible people!
