How to Find Us!
Standard Tours
Our standard tours include a self-guided tour and a guided tour. No reservation or pre-reservation required, simply visit the gift shop and start your adventure!
During our regular hours of operation, you’re free to wander our lower compound and spend as much time as you like observing our rescues.
At noon and 3:00 pm we offer a guided tour where one of our animal care team will share general facts and specific information about each of the rescues on our lower compound. The guided tour takes roughly an hour.
Feel free to take photos while on either tour!

Specialty Tours
REQUIRE 48 HOURS ADVANCE RESERVATION
Our standard tours are limited to our lower compound, which is home to roughly a third of our rescues. For access to our entire compound, you’ll need to join one of our specialty tours.
V.I.P. Tour
A very popular tour which allows you the opportunity to see all of our enclosures, and learn about even more of our amazing rescues. This tour is usually around 90 minutes and you will encounter some difficult terrain. We discourage people with mobility issues or strollers, though we can accommodate them.
Feeding Tour
Join a member of our animal care team to prepare food for and help feed a few of our rescues. Learn about their diets and watch them eat!
Enrichment Tour
One of the big challenges for any facility that cares for animals is keeping them engaged, stimulating them so that they don’t get bored. Work with one of our animal care team members to design and deliver enrichment to some of our rescues! If you have dogs at home, you can use the techniques and tricks you’ll learn here with your own animals, which is fun for everyone!
Plan a Day Trip!
Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary isn’t the only thing to see in the area!
If you’re into history and like to hike, a visit to El Morro National Monument, about 30 minutes from the sanctuary, is highly recommended.
At the base of this impressive geological structure is a pool of water used by ancient, prehistoric residents and more modern travelers, alike. Atop the sandstone bluffs you can view some of the remains of an ancient Ancestral Puebloan, or Anasazi, village, with over 300 rooms. Because the oasis-like pool at the base was the only reliable water source for miles in any direction, countless travelers stopped here to take advantage of the shade and water on their journey, which started a sort of ritual that makes El Morro even more impressive; travelers often inscribed their names, signatures, messages or stories into the soft sandstone, and many are still legible today! These markings are why El Morro is also known today as Inscription Rock. Check their website for operating hours, as they do change based on the season, and as a National Park, may be closed unexpectedly.
It is recommended that you bring food and drink with you since the sanctuary is pretty isolated. If coming from Grants, you can stop at the Ancient Way Cafe for a meal, either before or after visiting us. The food is excellent and the staff is very kind! Located in a place the locals call, “El Morroville”, about a mile east of El Morro National Monument, The Ancient Way Cafe also has a campground, if you want to stay overnight. If you don’t want to eat at a restaurant, bring a cooler and enjoy your lunch with the wolves! We have several picnic tables in the lower compound, usually in the shade, and we encourage guests to have a meal, right here.
You can also get some drinks or snacks at the El Morro Feed & Seed, or Inscription Rock Trading & Coffee Company, both just a stone’s throw from The Ancient Way Cafe
Coming from Gallup, there is a Dollar Store and the Lewis’ Trading Post, for drinks and snacks. The Dollar Store is on the left as you enter the town of Ramah, and Lewis’, which also has gas pumps, is a couple miles past Ramah, also on the left.
Fill your gas tank in either Gallup or Grants! The closest gas station is at Pine Hill Market, about a 20 minute drive from the sanctuary. They also have a convenience store, but you’ll have to drive east to it, and then double back to get to the sanctuary, or back to highway 53 to Grants or Gallup
