Zari
Female Mid-Content Wolfdog
Zari
Zari joined the Big Pack in the Sky on December 11th, 2015.
She passed at 16 years old due to cancer.

Zari, also known as “Azaria”, was born on July 11th, 1999, and arrived at Wild Spirit in December of 2011. Zari and her male companion lived in Arizona with their caring owner. Unfortunately, when their owner passed away, it left his two mid-content wolfdogs with nowhere to go.

Thankfully, a friend of the owner became involved and wanted to do what was best for Zari and her companion. They began looking for somewhere for the wolfdogs to go before they were seized by animal control. However, upon taking the wolfdogs to the vet, it was discovered that the male was deathly ill.

The male wolfdog was nearing end of life, so it was decided the best course of action for him would be euthanasia. Zari, on the other hand, was an energetic gal with an unbreakable spirit. Wild Spirit was contacted about rescuing this lovely senior, and we made the trip to Arizona to pick her up.

As is our policy, upon taking Zari into our care, we brought her to the vet prior to her arrival. It was at this point we were informed that poor Zari had cancer, and was estimated to live only 6 months. However, despite her grim prognosis, we brought her home to give her a peaceful place to live out her final days.

Zari’s indomitable attitude allowed her to live another 4 years, surrounded by people who loved her.

Personality

Zari was a very sweet girl who had a calm and relaxed way of life, unless there were gloves or food around! She sometimes had a sudden case of the “zoomies”, and would run circles around her enclosure. Her favorite time of day was when Caretakers visited to say, “Hello,” and give her the pampering she deserved.

Relationships

Zari had one companion during her time at Wild Spirit. She was paired with a mellow senior named Junior, who she loved to share space with. Upon his passing, Zari passed soon after.

Likes & Dislikes

Zari liked receiving ear rubs, belly rubs, and having her face cupped between her Caretaker’s hands for cheek rubs.

Zari disliked Junior getting possessive over their Caretakers, Junior stealing her toys, and Junior trying to take her food (she was not good at sharing!).

Fun Facts

Zari had a very particular morning routine that she followed exactly. She would run to the gate to greet her Caretaker, then follow a path around the trees in her enclosure, receive some attention, and then do a happy lap around the enclosure!
