The winner of Wild Spirit’s First Annual Howling Poetry Contest is Martin Naugher with his poem, “Lupine Plea.”
The 2019 Contest is Closed
Thank you so much to all who participated in Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary’s First Annual Howling Poetry Contest!
The Wild Spirit Team was delighted at the positive response, and it was wonderful reading all of the beautiful poems inspired by our dear rescue, Ms. Riot.
The Wild Spirit Team would love to see poems inspired by the photo featuring our senior rescue, Riot, sleeping in the snow. Celebrate our rescues and the wild-spirited with your creativity! All ages and skill levels are welcome and encouraged to enter. You can also submit more than one poem. Please just make it clear that you are entering more than one poem for consideration on your entry form. We cannot wait to read your poems!
To help support our rescues, Wild Spirit is asking for a donation of $5 minimum to enter. Of course, if you would like to donate more you are welcome to do so! Our rescues send their howls of thanks!
The contest will close on December 18th, submissions will be reviewed and judged by the Wild Spirit Team, and the winner will be announced on January 1, 2020 here on our website and on our social media accounts.
Submissions will be judged based on the poem’s relation to and interpretation of the photo-prompt, the poem’s inclusion and representation of Wild Spirit’s mission and motto, “Wild animals are not pets,” and unique flare.
Employees, volunteers, and representatives of Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary will be disqualified, and are not permitted to participate in the contest.
The Winner will receive the 2019 Limited-Edition Howling Poetry T-Shirt for free, publication in the next issue of the Howling Reporter as well as on the Wild Spirit website, and the poem will be shared on all of Wild Spirit’s social media platforms.
All people who submit a poem will receive the 2019 WSWS Howling Poetry Contest Sticker.
All prizes will be shipped out within the first two weeks of January following the announcement of the winner. If you do not receive your prize by February 1st, please let us know!
