Geronimo

Geronimo and his sister, Duchess, came to Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary with their mother, Princess, when we accepted a staff member who owned the family group. The woman who owned the threesome had raised Geronimo and Duchess from pups, and for the early part of their lives, they were well-socialized and even used as ambassadors at two previous wolf centers. As they matured, however, the intense socialization decreased and they were left with little attention from outside sources. While the staff member is no longer present at the Sanctuary, the trio remains with us and Wild Spirit has accepted resonsiblity for their permanent care and sanctuary.
Geronimo is a fiesty and sometimes dangerous animal; his remembrance of people and lacking of later socialization has caused him to act nervously aggressive toward many people. His caretaker must always be on the watch while cleaning, for Geronimo will sneak up and try to bite his caretaker on the leg. Geronimo lives with his sister Duchess, and treats her with brotherly love. Although still considered a dangerous animal, once Geronimo and his sister were moved onto the tour path, he became much more social. He will walk up to greet tours walking by, and is very enthusiastic about joining in group howls.

Geronimo is a pure wolf; part Arctic wolf, part Timber wolf.
